Lehman's Orchards - Niles MI

Fruit picking is my therapy, and here is my happy place. I had the best strawberries and tart cherries ever picked up from here. The pricing could be better though.

Stopped in looking for local gifts. What a pleasant surprise to find a great selection of local wine, hard and regular ciders, jams, honey, vinegars and fruit syrups. Impulse bought some warm apple cider donuts. Yummm. They were still picking fruit today but I just stopped in the market. Well worth it. Friendly service and great prices.

Wonderful little orchard, only about 15-20mins from downtown South Bend! I’ve been here twice now, to pick tart cherries, peaches, and blueberries. All the produce has been delicious! Better still, the prices for u-pick fruit are very reasonable. The blueberries are completely organic! And the tart cherries are sprayed with pesticide, but there’s a washing station and a de-pitting machine on site! Everyone who works there has been very helpful with directions, even when the place gets busy. There are two picking areas, one near the main entrance, and another across the street. Make sure to go to the main entrance first, in order to exchange your license for a u-pick card/entrance ticket. I would recommend wearing long pants, especially if you’re going to pick in the fields across the street. It’s a wonderful and relaxing experience picking fresh fruit off the tree or bush. I have been pleasantly surprised by how few bugs there are—Lehman’s certainly keeps clean! Guarding the blueberry bushes is a big box that plays the sounds of birds of prey (which I think keeps the smaller birds from plucking all the fruit), so if you’re coming alone, you may want some headphones, haha. In any case, I completely recommend getting your next batch of fresh produce from Lehman’s!

Abundant blueberries!! Nice little country store. Very personable staff. Excellent price point. Would return.

My favorite orchard. Largely due to golden raspberries! They’re only there a short period of time. There are a bunch of other fruits and goods available. You can pick or buy from the store.
