I can’t say enough GREAT things about this place. If you like to garden as much as I do, then you’re gonna love this place. But let me first start with the fact that they not only allow but even welcome leashed pets into their store which I find absolutely wonderful since that allows me more opportunities to shop where I don’t have to worry about weather and if it’s too hot or too cold for my pets to stay in my car. I will add tho that it does get extremely hot and humid at this location in the summer so bring water for your pet if you’re bringing them along. And never pick up one of their hoses as it could contain a water/fertilizer mixture for the plants that would not be safe for your pet to drink, at least that’s what I was told once when I inquired. If you like plants and/or gardening, this place is a little slice of heaven right here on earth. But even those who aren’t beholden to their plants will find something for everyone here. Firstly, this place is MASSIVE as far as gardening centers go. In addition to a huge variety of both indoor and outdoor plants, annuals and perennials, you can find everything else you’ll need to garden here: gloves, shoes, soil, mulch, pots, gardening tools, knee pads, kneel pads, trellises, you name it. They also sell a variety of trees as well as different types of stone. There are indoor garden areas as well as outdoor areas to shop. You can also buy patio furniture, umbrellas, yard ornaments for your garden, and thousands of other adorable things, anything and everything under the sun. There is a large pet section that sells all things pet. They even stock baby chicks for a few weeks somewhere in the March/April time frame. There is a boutique inside that has all sorts of lovely items from clothing to jewelry. You can find all sorts of birdseed and feeders and I think I even saw a rather elegant section of things related to weddings and new babies. I have heard but not seen for myself that they also have some farm animals including llamas, like a little petting zoo I believe. Check with the store for hours of operation and specific deets. At XMAS they do a huge holiday display including moving trains and of course they have a large selection of artificial as well as precut trees. I noticed this last time I was there that they have some sort of a brewery on site. There are so many things happening at this location, it’s hard to keep up with honestly. Check their website for the whole list. The checkout registers are usually pretty well staffed so checkout goes pretty quickly typically. And you’re probably wondering about the parking for a place this size. Well wonder no more. There is more than enough parking. There are three separate lots and also street parking for those events that pull in extra folks. They also provide you with boxes to put your plants in or paper/plastic to line your car with so it doesn’t get all dirty. They have ppl on staff everyday to load your car if you buy mulch or heavier items like that. There’s only one thing I don’t particularly like and it’s for sure personal preference…they welcome pets but don’t offer them a treat at the register. And I point this out bc the Severna Park location always has treats on hand. For that matter so does the bank. But this location does not unfortunately. And if they do, well, then they aren’t doing a very good job of informing their staff of where to find them. Otherwise it gets 5 ⭐️ from me. You could easily spend hours there. Oh! One last thing. They run a promotion during the spring and early summer called Myrtle Money where they give you a certain amount of “Myrtle money” for all of your purchases. And then there is a 4 days block in July I think where they let you come in and spend your MM. They allow you to substitute in MM for up to 50% of your purchases during that 4 day block, if I understand it correctly. So buy $100 worth and pay only $50 assuming you’ve saved $50 in MM. Enjoy!
Homestead Gardens is a destination trip, to see the beautiful flowers and plants and the home decorations. And there is the beer garden with a nice stage and food trucks. Plus, a pen of goats and baby donkeys!
Homestead Garden is such a beautiful and peaceful place. The plants are healthy and well cared for, and the variety is amazing. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to help. Every visit is inspiring, and I always leave with exactly what I need. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves gardening and nature.
Beautiful, everyone passing through on Rte.50 should stop by. Best selection and variety this side of the bay bridge. Oh, did I mention the brewery. Had the Oriole. Awesome brew . Perfect with an orange wedge
The best quality plants. The educational program is superb. Thanks to Patricia Cowan who is a high rank expert in horticulture and a wonderful person!
