It was a great place for veggie starts at affordable price compared to other stores! Seedling quality is impressive. We also got some fresh strawberries, will definitely recommend. Forgot to take photos of the strawberries lol. These small kind of swert berries, we wait for these every summer. Look, how fresh they are!
Decided to come here for the first time. On Mother's Day.about 3 weeks ago. The store was nice. There was plenty of vegetables to choose from. We make a garden every year to make our own sauce for the year. However, purchased plants, took them home and planted them. The sweet basil turned out to be licorice basil. Which is not what we picked, even though the signage in the pot itself, said it was sweet Basil. It was not . Asked if we could bring it back to get the sweet basil which is what we paid for. and they said no. Farmington Gardens lost a customer for life. Over not honoring what that were selling was incorrect.
I loved this place. Lots of very helpful people and a big variety of plants. Until 2025, I bought like every year, at their sale, 16 one gallon plants. Black eyed Susan and Russian sage. Out of the 16 plants, only 5 made it back this year. Same soil, location. Our trees survived greatly but this is a disappointing performance.
I LOVE this place. Absolutely beautiful aesthetic and variety. It's got everything. The classes are great, too. Definitely get coffee and a treat, and take a thorough stroll. You'll find something to take home. Great value and selection. Staff are wonderful and always helpful, from batista to tree expert, to cashier and heavy lifting crews...everyone is great.
I’d received two $150 gift cards to this nursery and, even though it was more expensive than Al’s or Cornell Farms. I was excited to patronize this nursery as it was closer to my home than the other nurseries, and we'd bought a house on a third of an acre that is in sore need of landscaping. But on my 3rd purchase, when I got home and was investigating how best to plant the vines I’d bought, I learned they were an invasive species. The next day, when I went to return them, I was treated like a criminal. I told the clerk I’d like to return the plants. I didn’t say why, and the clerk, who was very defensive, didn’t asked. She said because it was a BOGO, she needed to contact the manager and continued with st along the lines of, “Don’t be mad at ME, I just work here,” although I’d said nothing more to her than what I’d already said. When the manager arrived, she chided me saying, that, in the future, I should know that BOGO’s aren’t refundable. The clerk who checked me out when I originally bought the vines the day before, never mentioned this. Of course, this info wouldn’t have prevented me from buying them, but it would have prevented me trying to return them. I told the clerk not to worry, that I wouldn’t be back. I didn’t know which gift card had been charged because the clerk who checked me out the day before asked me to keep both, because he got mixed up about which one he’d charged, so I had to give both gift cards to the clerk and the manager. They made a big deal about it, complaining loudly while they huddled in the shack whilst trying to figure it out. Knowing I’d never go back, I just told them to keep both the cards, that I wouldn’t be returning. And I won’t.
