Draney Orchard is a beautiful, old style apple orchard set in Haynes Canyon of High Rolls. I stopped by on Sunday to see what the orchard was like and left with 3 bags of apples. The Draneys have 16 varieties of apples (I think), and 8 were in season for my visit. I tasted all 8 at Mr. Draney's encouragement and found I looked the tart varieties, which tasted like apple fused with more flavorful fruits. The apples are the best I've ever had; grown with plenty of space and spring water, they're picked by hand at peak ripeness. Perhaps I'm not ordinarily eating the right apples! I highly recommend at stop at Draney Orchard to taste gourmet apples in season. my
