Just bought four boxes of peaches at $0.65/lb and two of pears at $0.50/lb. We've already canned 13 jars of peaches this season, and will use today's for jam. What a blessing to be able to store fresh fruit for our family!
Picked up 10 lbs of cherries. Sweet & delicious. Made Cherry Almond Overnight Oats for family breakfast. Delicious. Cherry jelly next. I could eat all the fresh cherries by myself! They are perfectly ripe. Cherries are at the end of picking season, fresh picked apricots are next.
If you went to the LDS Farm on Pear, off Karcher We got Apricots for ,60-.80 a pound and cherries .50 cent a pound.
They are affiliated with the Mormon church. In years past they've been very good about selling to the public. However starting in 2025. They will no longer seal to the general public. And to buy anything you will have to have a business license and buy their fruit in allotments the size of a bin. I think that's about 300 lb. I asked why the change in policy and they won't sell to the general public anymore. I was told because they wanted to have more control over their fruit and who was buying it and what they did with it. The staff is not at all friendly. The old management was nothing great. The new management is even worse. I personally used to buy large volumes of sweet from them. I kept some for my wife and I. The rest I gave to people in my neighborhood that I know were in need of food. I guess I won't be able to do that anymore. However Caldwell Orchard gets to control their fruit now. If I could write them lower than one star, I would rate them a -10 Stars.
A great orchard. Although they no longer sell to the general public, they sometimes will reward volunteers with some of the bounty. Go be a volunteer. That is how the orchard functions. Their are very few paid workers.
